“My thirty years of adventure and experiences living and working in the Far East gives me the voice of authority in my writings of Asian business and crime, and how the two are considered one in the same…”

For more than 30 years, Jim Nesbitt was a roving correspondent for newspapers and wire services in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Washington, D.C. He chased hurricanes, earthquakes, plane wrecks, presidential candidates, wildfires, rodeo cowboys, ranchers, miners, loggers, farmers, migrant field hands, doctors, neo-Nazis and nuns with an eye for the telling detail and an ear for the voice of the people who give life to a story. He is a lapsed horseman, pilot, hunter and saloon sport with a keen appreciation for old guns, vintage trucks and tractors, good cigars, aged whiskey and a well-told story. He now lives in Athens, Alabama.

Joey Mancuso, John Powers and Alex Cardenas share many things besides being the main male characters in my novels. They also share a love for good cigars, good liquor, and few other things we won’t mention here.
When in Islamorada, Florida, John Powers’ favorite place to hang and enjoy a cold local brewed beer is Florida Keys Brewing Co. You’ve read he enjoys his beers, now you too can enjoy a cold one. Who knows, you might see him there.
Captain James graciously allowed me to use his real name in Operation Black Swan and play the character of John Powers’ brother. In the book, his boat The Catchalottafish makes a covert trip to Cuba with John and the Alpha Team. In real life, captain James is one of the best fishing captains in Islamorada, I know from experience.
